Mission StatementThe mission of the Academy of St. Francis of Assisi is to prepare students to be literate, articulate, and computative life-long learners so that they may become productive citizens guided by Gospel values.
History and AccreditationThe Academy is the union of Holy Angels School, Little Falls, and St. James Academy, Totowa. The academy has been serving the Passaic Valley and the Paterson communities since 2006. The school is fully accredited through AdvancEd and the Diocese of Paterson. Here the whole child develops spiritually, academically, emotionally, and physically from early childhood through adolescence.
AwardsThe Academy has won the diocesan Home and School marketing award in 2008 and 2009. Students have received academic recognition from the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Memorial Post 227 as well as forensic awards. Dr. Kostenko, Principal, is the recipient of the National Catholic Education Association 2000 Distinguished Principal Award.
Academic ProgramsAcademics are imbued with gospel values and follow the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards. Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum. The middle school/junior high students serve as mentors to their younger peers. This process boosts self-esteem during their vulnerable, formative adolescent years.
Extra-curricular Activities include Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, Scouting, Volleyball, Forensics, and a variety of clubs that pertain to the students’ interests. Students also participate in many service and community projects.
Parental InvolvementParents are their child’s primary educator. We welcome and encourage parental involvement. Parents serve on the Home and School Board. Each class has 2-3 class parents to help with class activities, field trips, and parties. Parents work on a variety of committees.
Tuition is affordable. Visit the school’s website for further information. |
