The fourth grade class of Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Wayne, NJ, joined once again this year the
"Passaic County Calendar Poster Contest". As part of the fourth grade social studies curriculum, students study the state, and especially facts about their county. As a class, the students researched the history, places of interest, recreational opportunities as well as the ethnic and cultural diversity of Passaic County. They then used their creativity to create a poster that reflected all that is special and unique about Passaic County.
We are very proud to announce that this year we had 4 winners from the IHM 4th grade class. For the first time ever in the contest history, there were two winners tied for first place. - Michael Allen, and Hayden Tully. Both students drew posters that pictured the Paterson Falls. Their posters are shown under the months of January and March. Both first place winners received t-shirts, medals, and a $100.00 gift certificate. We had also another calendar winner, Nicholas Kolatac. Nicholas's poster has a spot for the month of May on the 2017 Poster. An honorable mention for his great work was given to Santiago Moldanado.
Mrs. Frances Alberta, Principal of IHM School, as well as Mrs. Catherine Connor , fourth grade teacher attended the awards ceremony sponsored by Passaic County Clerk -Mrs. Kristen M. Corrodo, Esq, on January 31, where all the winners were recognized.
