Over the course of the last sixteen months, the Catholic Schools office and our Diocesan elementary and secondary schools have been preparing for AdvancED re-accreditation. We have sought input from stakeholders, accessed ourselves critically, developed and implemented policies and practices that aligned with AdvancED and Catholic standards, and gathered countless items of evidence to support our continuous improvement plans.
On April 3, 2017 the AdvancED Accreditation External Review team arrived at the Diocesan Center for the final steps in the process of re-accreditation. The three day visit began with a presentation led by Superintendent Mary D. Baier, Associate Superintendent Deborah Duane and a team of school principals. Mass was then celebrated in the oratory by Fr. Peter Clark. Over a two day period the AdvancED team conducted interviews with Diocesan department heads and visited eight of our schools. During the school visits they observed classes, spoke with administrators, staff, students and parents. The onsite visit concluded with a prayer service presented by the CSO Spirituality Committee and then the results of the process were presented by the AdvancED team to our school principals and presidents. The Diocese of Paterson Catholic Schools Office is excited to announce the re-accreditation of our school system!!! This re-accreditation shows our commitment to continuous improvement, ours are schools of distinction, diversity and discipleship.
